Albipesca 2018

Hi all just a brief update on my fishing season so far this year. So the competitions have been a little scarce this year mainly due to the extreme weather ie very very hot. First one of the year was a feeder match in February where I took 2nd place with a weight of 14 kilos. Next off was the national individual feeder competition where again i took a 2nd place with a weight of 22 kilo 600g.
On to may when I fished two matches on the pole and again i finished in 2nd place on both of these. I then didn't fish another competition until October where I took a 4th place weighing 34 kilos 850g.
All in all a pleasing run of results and some money banked but it has been very frustrating in terms of number of matches fished, having said that it's understandable with the temperatures hitting up to 49 degrees Celsius throughout the summer and difficult to breathe never mind fish.

Albipesca

Just a quick update for my home made floats Albidiamonds.
I have been using these with great results and what's even more pleasing is that some top class anglers here in Portugal are now buying and using these. Happy days.

6th anniversary.

Well it is six years now since we moved to Portugal and we are still very happy here.
For sure its not been plain sailing at times but all in all we have no regrets, and still feel very privileged and blessed to be here.
There has been trials and tribulations ups and downs and the odd difficult moment's but this is what we call home now and has been since the day we arrived.
There are things we miss from the UK that is only normal and to be expected, but so many things are better for us here overall, the quality of life is so much better.
So we are now looking forward to another year and all that it brings spring is on its way my favourite time of year and the new fishing season is fast approaching and its going to be a busy one as I am fishing again for our team in the championship's and also fishing the national feeder champs in the individual events but that's for another story later.
We really need to make a better effort this year in terms of blogging as we have become really lazy with it I think it has something to do with the pace of life here, so that's all for now and see you all soon.

So.....when it's raining.

I am pleased i finally have something to keep me occupied when you are stuck indoors and the weather is playing up.
I have started to make hand built pole floats for myself and a few fishing friends.
We struggle to get good quality diamond pattern pole floats here in Portugal so after months of research and sourcing the best quality materials i am now producing these and making them with my own hands.
It's actually very therapeutic and also will be very rewarding when I start to win a few fishing competitions using my own product.

Rain and more rain.

Hi all well it seems we have got off quite lightly looking at how most of Europe is suffering with the current cold spell. I think we have been lucky in the sense that we have just had torrential downpours instead of the snow. It's a real blessing as we desperately needed some it's been a long long time.
When it does rain especially at this time of year it really does come down.
This was yesterday at lunchtime.

Feeder championships portugal

Hi all no doubt a few of you will be getting a bit bored now with the fishing posts, perhaps I need to do a new blog just dedicated to the fishing.
Well it was a real struggle for our team in the feeder champs but it was our first time and most of the team are very inexperienced. We were competing against some of Portugal's best including teams with world champions and national champions so it was tough to say the least, but a greatly enjoyable first entry.
I am certain we will improve on our eighth position next year because we all enjoyed it so much we are now going to dedicate the time needed in practice to ensure a better result.
On a personal level although it brings me little consolation I was the top points scorer for the team in aveiro and peter my good friend was top scorer in coruche, so it was not all doom and gloom.
So we begin our training this weekend again and with luck it really should pay dividends.
